Eddie The Eagle Lands
In April, U’s mascot Eddie the Eagle will take on the Virgin London Marathon in his biggest challenge yet. Needing all the help he can get, Eddie went down to see the staff at Essex Orthopaedics this week to get kitted out with some new orthotics to support his feet throughout the 26.2 miles.
The custom-made Sidas Orthotics Eddie kindly received will go a long way to making Eddie’s charity run more comfortable for him.
Eddie having a mould taken of his feet provided a surreal experience for the manager of Essex orthopaedics, a U’s fan himself, who funnily enough had never fitted an eagle before!
Essex Orthopaedics supports at least one major charity a year and, like Eddie and everyone at Colchester United, believe the local St Helena’s Hospice charity would be a brilliant cause to help out. When we found out Eddie was running the marathon for St Helena’s it linked the two perfectly.

Eddie and U’s retail manager Lee Hyde (his running partner) are very pleased with their new gear, which will provide that extra bit of help that will get them across the finishing line in April.
Remember Eddie and Lee are running the marathon for charity, so any donations would be widely appreciated.
